We did Atlanta on 16 Aug with connection to Tampa. The immigration queue was huge and we were in line there for about 2 hours. It was still a huge queue when we left. The number of desks opened seemed low given the volume of people in the hall.

The luggage claim was really easy, probably because we'd waited so long in immigration. Our cases were off the carousel and were lined up beside it.

I can't say we noticed anyone shouting guidance. The signage was very clear.

The airport itself was really busy and we waited a while at TGIs for a table so we could eat
a meal before the connection. All told, it was good that we had a 5 hour connection given how busy it was.

We did have a delay on our departure from Atlanta which we could have done without. Tampa airport was very easy. We did Avis Preferred and it couldn't have been quicker or more straightforward to get on the road.

Looks like we flew the same day. I think the immigration wait was worse than usual given all the computer systems went down. We were given the bad news by the pilot as we arrived. Luckily the queue only ended up being about 90 mins for us. Nothing seemed to move for the first hour but then by about 6.30pm the systems seem to come back and queues moved pretty quickly then.

I expected worse as twitter was full of stories of people not being allowed off planes at some airports because immigration halls were full. Our a Tampa flight was on time but we didn't get there until 10pm. We stayed at the Marriott in the terminal for the first night which was really convenient.

Flew through Atlanta this week on way to and back from Houston. All as described but again customs hall only had 5 or so desks open and took approx 1 hour to clear making my connection tight once I had got to Terminal B. I would always suggest a connection time of around 2 hours + at Atlanta and then even if you coast through immigration, chance for a beer and a sit down.
