Newport Bay or Sequoia Lodge
Considering either NPB or SL for our first ever visit to DLP. I have a stronger leaning towards NPB just because I like the look of the rooms, the theming and because I believe it has just been refurbished.
However, don’t know much about either as only a recent decision to try DLP. So I’m looking for help please from anyone who has stayed at either or both or even just visited them - which would you choose and why? TIA. |

We've stayed at both and I believe we are both of the opinion that we liked SL out of the 2. We preferred the room, it was a little bit closer to the action, preferred the restaurant too.

We stayed at NBC 3 years ago and loved it, though we did upgrade to compass club too which enhanced the experience for us. We also went in July and had fab weather using the outdoor pool in the afternoon so overall a fab holiday.
This Xmas we are going and taking my sister and niece for 3 nights and thkigh I was tempted to book NBC again I wasn’t sure if being in a standard room this time would be as good and also I decided the SL has more of a winter theming for a Xmas break. Sorry I am sure this hasn’t helped your decision any!

Personally I prefer Sequoia Lodge, or at least I don't think Newport Bay is worth the extra cost. Not everyone likes the theming of SL but I like the cosy foresty vibe plus it's a slightly shorter walk to the parks.

Depends when you’re going?
I’d go for NPB in summer as it has a great pool and is more ‘summery’. SL looks like a lovely cosy type place for autumn/winter (haven’t stayed there yet). |

We love both! NPB for summer & SL for winter. Going in a few weeks & staying in NPB & then back in December & staying in the SLGF!

We stayed at SL few years ago and are going again next year. If you like the outdoors then the forest feel is good: plenty of shade from the trees during the walk along the river to join the lake. It’s closer to the village and I can also vouch for Hunters Grill being good. Only thing I could fault was the pool as too deep for even us to stand in and felt it was rather cold for the kids. Rooms were fine, we had adjoining with the grandparents.

Thanks everyone for your replies. SL seems to be a popular choice!
We’re going to have a proper look at both, see if I can find any YouTube videos for a start. Thanks again. |

Enjoy your planning and researching. Check out some pics on Trip Advisor it will give you an idea of what each looks like. Obviously there will be the obligatory pictures taken of bathrooms and toilets... and some people aren't happy no matter where they stay so maybe ignore the reviews!

OP - what time of year are you planning to travel? I think this makes a difference in terms of which hotel is better.
Summer - NPB is great - it has a good outdoor pool and a fresh airy feel. Winter - SL is a good call- large lounge area with a big open fire which is very cosy at the end of a long park day.
