Not exactly - shoes are multi purposes to protect your feet on any surface - including restaurant floors . Hats are to protect from weather

I'd never really considered the hat thing... DH wears a cap when we are away and leaves it on in the restaurant

Re phones, I am super conscious of this at the moment, we have gone from a family of 4 to a family of 3 due to a very tough recent bereavement. I noticed that this holiday, at the meal table, we did spend more time on our phones, mainly as a distraction I guess when your mind is whirring with all sorts of thoughts and you don't feel like talking at that time...

I found this tough as I was so aware that people may look at our table and think to themselves that we were a rude unsociable bunch but sometimes there are deeper underlying reasons for peoples actions...

So, these days I try not to judge but previously would have a loose no phones at the table rule...

None of my family would wear a hat in a restaurant, but if another diner was, it wouldn't offend me. As for phones and ipads, I perfer to chat but my youngest is autistic and he as his ipad when we are in a restaurant, it keeps him occupied and focused and he offen helps us to plan activities we might like to try by researching them. He is very intellegent and reads articles rather than playing games.

Sounds like most people are like us then lol
It obviously doesn’t effect or bother me what other people do as long as it’s not having a negative impact on our family meal (music, games noise etc)
I was always brought up that wearing a hat whilst eating is bad manners and I love our family interactions when we go for a meal out, chatting, laughing, planning etc I would be rather upset if one of my children preferred to be glued to their phone.
We stayed with our friends for 9 nights last year, their 3 children and my best friends husband kept their hats on and their faces glued to their phones. I was a bit offended by this as it was rather rude when we was all supposed to be socialising. Maybe my family are too boring so a phone is better company 😂😂

Hats don't bother me. I agree about phones though.

If I dont wer a hat I'll burn, so I hve no choice look awful or keep the hat on.

Yes to both of these.

If it was an upmarket restaurant I would remove cap and phones but I have yet to find one in Orlando!

We don’t wear hats but doesn’t really bother me if others wear them in restaurants.
I have used my phone quite a lot this holiday and waiting for food I’d usually be on it looking for fast passes
