I could have wrote your post OP, mine over the last month is exactly as you described..I take antihistamines at night and I read that this can make tinnitus worse, or onset. So last night for the first time in about a year I have not taken one. No difference yet this morning but I guess it will be a process to see if it makes a difference.

Some medications such as betablockers e.g. Bisoprolol side effects can include tinnitis.

It isn't very pleasant and at times annoying and in some cases can cause visual disturbance similar to "migraine" flashing lights.

As others have said it is developing a coping stratergy to learn to live with it but I was interested to read that some Dibbers's GP's did some heart checks etc.

Can definitely confirm that... mine was started by bisoprolol for heart troubles. Also suffer occasionally from labarynthitis and am a long time sufferer of misophonia.

The tinnitus really helps with misophonia as I can tune it in and lose focus on the noises giving me the rage.

I have had tinnitus since January. I thought it was associated with Eustachian tube dysfunction but after seeing an ENT specialist and having a hearing test she stated I had very mild high frequency hearing loss! I think I have brilliant hearing so can’t really understand this. Mine thankfully doesn’t stop me from sleeping, as previous posters have stated it’s a white noise which I can deal with. Mine is worse when watching tv but over the months I have realised I don’t hear it as much.
Keeping busy is the key. I hardly think about it during the day. I haven’t had all the heart, mri blood tests etc. Still don’t know if I believe it’s due to hearing loss so am always actively looking for other causes 😐

I hate these tinnitus threads as it tends to be the only time I notice mine when I read them😂

Best advice- forget about it and let your brain do it’s job and knock it out via habituation.

Tinnitus tends to be most problematic when you think it’s a problem.

If it is hearing loss related, a cheap hearing aid can assist.

Tinnitus causes include hearing loss, ear damage, and even vascular damage or whiplash type injuries.

Ever noticed you are in a quiet office or somewhere and the air con goes off, and for the first time you notice it was making a noise? Or you are talking to a friend in a pub and all the discussions around you are not actually distracting you? This is your brain removing the noise via habituation and it will usually do just that with tinnitus if you forget about it. As soon as you think or concentrate on it- it’s back.

I've had it for a long time. It arrived with an upper respiratory tract infection but stayed after the infection was cured. Most days I can ignore it. If it's really bad I find listening to wave noises helps but that might be because I am imagining being at Siesta Key.

Yes, I have consistent hissing in both ears, trying to learn to push it into the background.

It’s the fact that the noise is “pulsing” with my heartbeat that caused me to contact my GP. I know we shouldn’t google, but the NHS web site stated that if pulsatile tinnitus was the issue, then get checked out, as there could be heart or circulation issues at play. Hence being where I am. My BP is ok; my heart sounds ok. If it’s “one of those things” and it is what it is, I’ll certainly learn to live with it. But at least I’ll know that, in general, I’m ok.

I developed pulsatile tinnitus exactly one year ago today. It turned out to be a bilateral carotid artery dissection, I spent a fortnight in hospital, and am still not fully recovered. That is definitely one symptom that always needs to be checked by a doctor xxx
