My son is 14 and enjoys carcasson and ticket to ride. We’ve also got but not yet played forbidden island which is a collaborative game.

Sort it Out is really good as if you get a question you really don’t know you can still take part by having a guess, good for a mix of ages.

Thank you all. Some fab suggestions that I am off to investigate.
Dh and I were in Smyths yesterday to replace our Frustration game which has given up the ghost on the pop it bit and there were so many choices.

We love Ticket to Ride, Tiny Towns, Sagrada, Azul and very controversial for now Pandemic 😷 . Daughter also loves Forbidden desert
We also always take on any hols good old UNO card game and we love Yahtzee too…..but we are board game geeks so they usually when when UK travelling For good prices check out Zatu games online (based in Norwich where we live) or Amazon of course……a lot of the games suggested won’t be in places like Smiths or entertainer, but will be in local independent stores Edited at 11:18 PM. |

There's a game called Things which is brilliant fun - it asks questions to which you write down an answer and have to guess who said what. There's a better description and more info on their website thegameofthings/
Your answers can be as silly, childish or adult (in all senses of the word!) as you like, so it can be played by any age. You didn't used to be able to buy it over here, we were sent it from Canada not long after it came out so have the original version, which we played after dinner every Sunday evening for years. I believe now you can buy it from Amazon and other places, and I've just seen that there's even an app.

We love ticket to ride
Cleudo Risk Even things like chess Scabby Queen Card dominoes Dominoes Snakes and ladders ( they get really narked that’s it’s totally out of their control at times ) Even twister A good old fashioned game of snap And yes poker for banked on line time can work wonders with a grumpy teen but on your terms ie it’s got a side bet for the won time like something as simple as you get 5 mins more if when we get home you bring your washing down Friday / Saturday morning when we get home to a trip out with their mates but set the value for every game won on the first day and the must win it fair and square usually means so much more to them in my experience |
