Why is free DDP offered in Summer?

They seem to stop it over Easter and next year it's stopping in October with the theory being they don't need to havr it in October and beyond to help fill rooms... but surely with summer being one of the busiest times with parks at peak crowds (bar Christmas) then why do they offer it in summer?! Thanks

August and September have always been off peak.

Combination of returning back to school and poor weather keeps the Americans away

I don’t think it really is a “peak” time like Easter ,Halloween or Christmas .
It also lasts along time so is spread out over atleast 3/4 months unlike the other seasons

I see- but what about June and July when UK visitors and US visitors are off school? The crowd calendars always have it at 9/10 and what not.
I'm sure Disney know what they're doing - they're the masters of the money tree! :-) but it always seemed peculiar to me...

Summer isn't really a peak time in comparison to Easter and October - December when they get big crowds due to F&W, MNSSHP, MVMCP, marathon weekend, Thanks Giving, Christmas etc. I think we always think of summer as being peak as it's the big holiday season for us, but that doesn't necessarily translate elsewhere.

I wondered this too, as June and July are considered busy periods with US visitors. We, as brits have always been advised that this is a super busy time of year. One of the reasons why we’ve avoided it.

I think this is it. We had a chat with a Californian Lady at Fun Spot (she worked on the kids rides) - she told us that she was surprised to meet so many UK visitors in August/September as these were times most Americans avoided Florida because of Hurricanes, rain, humidity etc.

Looking at the dates Disney are offering the free plan for UK visitors it does suggest that the dates available are the quieter times in terms of guests.

It’s all about money. US free dining targets the US market. UK free dining targets UK travellers when we go en masse. No free dining for anyone means they are making their money anyway. The there are room discounts. Fact is anyone ever paying full price for Disney isn’t concentrating hard enough because it’s not necessary. The best deal for you will depend what type of room you want, how many people are in that room and what time of year you are travelling. However. Basic answer is it’s based on a mathematical algorithm designed to make Disney as much money as possible.

we have to remember its never free it's factored in to their pricing structure like many other things in life.
It’s like a shop selling something for 75% off, they have to mark it up at another shop for at least 28days, knowing full well they won’t sell it in that store, for them to offer 75% off else where thus making it seem like a great deal.
