How much is your 2020 trip costing?

I've done the last bit of booking today for our Easter holiday (school holidays, 3rd April) and been brave and added up the costs. The last time that I posted this sort of thing was 2015 and it seems that over 25000 people have viewed the post so it's obviously of interest. So here goes.

It's costing us £61.48 per person per night (pppn). Total £4180.64 2 adults, 2 teens

This compares with £46.76 pppn back in 2015, although the children were under 12 then, and total number of nights away from home was 19. This year they are teens and we're away from home for 17 nights.

The 2020 costs are for a night in a Premier Inn, Meet & Greet parking, direct flights from LHR to Miami with car hire (SUV). We have 3 nights in a cheap motel, 5 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment near the beach, and 6 nights in the Staybridge suites at Seaworld. All accommodation includes breakfast.

Park tickets are 14 days at Busch, Aquatica & Seaworld, and include parking, a full day of dining at each park, and the front of line passes and other benefits from staying in a Seaworld hotel.

(I haven't included insurance as this is medical and very specific to us.)

Anyone else brave enough? There are too many variables to make good science, but it gives a guide to the cost of the endless possibilities.

I added ours up the other day, 3 of us going 2 adults 1 teen for 15 nights in August, direct flights in to Tampa with BA, intermediate SUV through Alamo, 3 bedroom villa in Southern Dunes, Busch SeaWorld and Aquatica tickets, parking for 2 weeks at Gatwick and travel insurance all included total £3629.71. Obviously plus spending money. So £80.66 pppn.

Some of this is set in stone and payed for, some yet to be announced like HHN so the costs are an educated guess.

The cost is for;

Disney 2020 - 14 nights at CBR with upgraded dining plan
Flights - MAN to MCO with Virgin
Manchester Hotel
Airport Parking
Universal Hotel - 4 nights at RPR
Universal Tickets - 14 days
Universal Photopass
Seaworld Tickets - 14 days
HHN Tickets
HHN RIP Tour
Howl-O-Scream Tickets
Car Hire
Spending

...currently at an eye-watering £14,357.30.

Please don't judge although in fairness a large chunk of that is business class flights that we've not payed for in there entirety so it's more around £10,000.

That's for 2 people and 18 nights.

just a thought, would it be worth mentioning either what dates you are going, or at least say whether or not it is during a school holiday, as this can affect the price significantly...

(we're in the process of looking for flights for this year, doing early october for 2-3 weeks so havent got a price yet)

We are doing 3 nights in Miami, a 7 night cruise, 3 days in Orlando (SeaWorld & Discovery Cove) then a short trip to New York.

We won't need to spend alot when were there (all food and drink are paid for in the cruise, Discovery Cove and SeaWorld). All in so far - £2,600. I am an extreme money saver though..this is July?

Just worked ours out. £93.51pppn. Includes airport hotel and parking, direct flights to MCO and SUV for 20 nights, 20 nights in a villa, 2 nights club level at HRH, Disney and Universal tickets. That’s for 4 people. I’ll also add a couple of nights at a Disney/Partner hotel at some point. We weren’t supposed to be doing Disney, so that’s pushed the price up. (Insurance is via the bank so don’t include that in costs).

Edit: this is flying 6-26 August direct LGW-MCO

Gosh, interesting!

4th August ~ 1st September
2 adults
2 teens
Flights are indirect out (via Madrid), direct back, Heathrow to Miami.
Standard SUV for 28 nights
Accommodation is villa/ condo/ or 2 hotel rooms for a total of 28 nights; Miami, Keys, Homestead, Naples, Sarasota, Universal, Orlando, Deerfield
Parks; DC/ SW etc x14 days, Universal etc x 14 days, Disney x4 days only

£7860
£70.18pppn

We will need to add on spending, which I am hoping we can keep to roughly £4k, and take the pppn to £105.90
