Mansplaining, do you think this will stop it?
My dh has recently started mansplaining around the home. Recent examples include: telling me how to put up a washing line and how the burners on the hob are different sizes. But the all time classic was today when we were washing our cars he explained how the sun will make them dry quicker today as it will make the water evaporate!
I’ve tried being sarcastic when he makes these comments and pointing out he is mansplaining; but he just can’t seem to help himself. So I’ve now decided to try him at his own game in the hope he will realise how irritating it is.😡Do you think this will work? I am sure you will have plenty of ideas of things I could mansplain about.

My husband does this all the time - and usually around things that I do on a regular basis but he very rarely does. Cooking cleaning etc.
I now just stop, put a stupid girly voice on and go really over the top thanking him for his genius and how he has saved me from a life of using the wrong setting/ hanging things the wrong way/ stopping something from sticking in a pan. Childish I know. But he hates it so it’s an effective way of reminding what a tube he is being. |

Some examples to make your point in the future - preferably in front of others:
IN A SHOP - Darling, these are places where some people go to buy goods or services AS LEAVING HOUSE - Darling, we are now outdoors, the name for area outside the house. NEXT TIME HE MANSPLAINS - Darling, this is the back of my hand and the next time you might see AND feel it …. |

The one thing guaranteed to get me going is when my husband says to me as Christmas is approaching “we will need to get organised with the presents”. He says this every year. In all the years we have been married he has never organised anything to do with Christmas - it has always been me and I am the queen of list makers.
He does all the cooking though so he is not that bad I suppose. I built websites as part of my job before retiring yet my husband still tells me how to move the cursor on the laptop if we are looking at something at the same time. Edited at 12:49 PM. |
