Wow! Tree felling prices
I'm not sure if I'm being taken for a ride with the quote I've just received or if I've wildly underestimated what's involved. I have a 40ft eucalyptus tree which (sadly) has to go. We've had many crown reductions over the years but the diameter of the trunk is such that it's pushing through our boundary fence. I've just been quoted £1,300 to remove it Is that the going price these days?
I could get a week's all inclusive for me and DH for that! (traffic light system permitting...) Edited at 12:51 PM. |

We had a - probably similar height - tree felled a few years ago. It cost £400 but the team said at the end they’d quoted wrong and it should have been closer to £750 for the work involved. We did only pay £400 for felling and removing.

We had some done by a tree surgeon. He quotes essentially by the day, and for whomever else had to be there for aid / health and safety. He had to climb with ropes and lower carefully because it went over a boundary like yours. It was 1000 for the day. One qualified tree surgeon and two others. Had to go down the tree surgeon rather than landscaper route because of the boundary issue. He was insured for damage to neighbours property, the landscaper quote was around 800 and wasn't.

£1300😀
I removed my eucalyptus tree approx 30 foot myself with the help of my father-in-law. Biggest issue was getting rid of the waste. £500 max outside of London for that size tree and off road location |

We have just had a 30ft tree fully removed. It was 3 trees in 1 almost and had the stumps removed.
This cost us 750.

No idea sorry but Ilove the smell from those Eucalyptus trees. We had one but I cut it down when I realised it was going to overwhelm my garden.

Wow. We had a couple of smaller trees cut down a few years ago, it was about £500. DH wasn’t very impressed I’d said yes to that price!

OK, so seems like I'm not being crazy in thinking that price is unreasonable! There's no chance we're doing it ourselves but I shall politely decline this quote
