BA cancelled EDI-LHR - what are my options?
Hi
So we have BA flights EDI-LHR in October (then LHR-MCO with Virgin). We are booked to go down the night before then had a 4 hour change to then get up to Edinburgh. Just got emails this morning that both of our flights are cancelled with BA. They've put us on an hour earlier outbound then an hour later return. Firstly... will we even get there in October? who knows but we need to plan as if we will I guess. The situation we have is that we changed our dates with Virgin and they've put us on MCO-ATL-LHR home but one of the direct flights home is pretty empty but wasn't available to change to when we needed to change but if K class PE or upper miles seats home become available, we can move (we have PE cash flights in K class and upper vouchers applied to return flight). I have a feeling that IF we are told we can go in Oct, miles upper seats may crop up and allow us to go direct MCO-LHR which lands a lot earlier than the Atlanta flight we are currently booked on... My question is, if I just don't accept the BA changes, if we find out in 5/6 weeks or so that we can go, can I then call and say no I don't accept, and get them to change our times without us having to pay? (obv a risk availability wise but worst case, we do have space on a flight). I didn't know if there's a time limit on this? The earlier flights back to Edi do tend to be more expensive. |

Re your BA question yes you can sit tight for now and see what happens with your other flights. We got notification of changes from BA in December for June flights and didn’t do anything until late March when we knew there wasn’t much chance of them going ahead. We asked for a refund then and had the money back on our card within a few days.

Glad I could help. We have rebooked for October so fingers crossed we all get there.
We actually had 2 bookings for June as our DS was traveling out separately a week after us and he only had a 5 minute time change on his EDI to London flight and they refunded his booking too. |

I've just had a flight change on upcoming Boston/New York trip, so am not going to accept for now. Would still like to go, but the change now means if I cancel I should get avios, companion voucher and cash refunded pretty immediately
