Orange line A by the looks of it then.

They have ticket offices both in arrivals and near where the water buses leave from. Exit departures, turn left and then a covered moving walkway takes you to the water buses.

The guys on the boat ask which hotel you are staying at and stack your bigger luggage accordingly near the entrance of the boat.

It’s very easy.

Thanks for all the info seems pretty straight forward 😊😊

Sat at Bristol airport enjoying a drink waiting to fly off now. Easyjet has said there is a 30 minute delay but we are happily waiting to set off. Looking forward to the break, thanks for all the tips here 😊

2 hour delay by Easyjet meant we didn't get to hotel until 9.30 last night. But was wowed by the views as soon as we got here. Lovely hotel and a good nights sleep and we have been out exploring St Mark's Square today. Very crowded and incredibly hot but really enjoyed it. Doge's Palace was beautiful. I think we are really going to enjoy our visit 😀

Back today and just wanted to again thank everyone for their advice and tips on here. We loved Venice, want to return some day and definitely visit other parts of Italy. Some highs and (very few) lows:

HIGHS
1. Our hotel, Ca Gottardi in Canneregio. Small, select b&b boutique hotel. Extremely helpful, friendly staff, the most comfortable beds, great location and a real treat to stay at. The management knew guests by name, nice personal touch. We even had a gift of speciality local biscuits on check out.
2. The churches, architecture, museums and sheer beauty of the city
especially Doge's Palace, Correr museum and Archeologea museums. Breathtaking artwork and architecture.
3. Some great food and service. Not everywhere but we had far more good meals than bad. Al Parlamento on Canneregio Canal deserves a special mention for food, good service and prices
4. The Lido, Murano and Burano. Bought a 48 hour vaporetto pass for these. Really enjoyed them all, made a nice break from the city.
5. The sunshine. We like the heat and enjoyed visiting the city in the summer. It did mean the walking wore us out a little more, but gave us excuses for eating more delicious ice creams 😀

LOWS
1. Crowds. To be expected, and we were very lucky the first day we visited St Mark's as it was quite early in the morning so not too busy but later in the days both this area and Rialto Bridge area was very crowded. We enjoyed wandering around the less touristy areas and discovering empty bridges, churches and canalsides.
2. Rude impatient people especially on the vaporettos. The boats were a good way to get around and the 48 hr pass was useful but so many people pushing and being quite hostile. Most Venetians we met were very nice but they certainly didn't like tourists on the boats 😀

But only minor moans really. We loved our first visit to Italy, and Venice and will certainly return.

Glad you had a good time.

Not surprised with your comment about rude locals on the Vaporetti. We went in February so it was a lot quieter and so more chilled (literally) than now but did experience some very short tempered behaviour from a few locals. Saying that I think the Italians are a bit more expressive than us reserved Brits.

I don't know if it has been mentioned but I recommend going on one of the free walking tours early in your visit.

These are free-ish - you should give a decent tip at the end but €10 is enough and I thought they were excellent.

I used venicefreetours/ although looking at their website they don't run until April. I did an intro to the city tour in the morning and was impressed so did the second main landmarks tour the next afternoon.

They didn't dwell on the main tourist sites you can all find yourself, but wandered along lesser known sites and gave a good account of the history and sights that may have been missed otherwise.
