This is Bolsover Council...
General Bulkies

1 - 3 items = £10 4 - 6 items = £15
7 - 9 items = £20 10+ items **
** a quote will be made with a minimum charge of £30

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

1 item = £10 2 items = £15
3 items = £20 4 items = £25
5 items = £30

Quite reasonable really... and I like the phrase “general bulkies”

We also have a nearby recycling centre /tip... they’re brilliant there always willing to help you unload, and always pleasant...

Yes, totally free here in Belfast. We had a huge American style fridge freezer collected last year at 7am on a Saturday morning. Was very impressed!

I’m sure they do, but no idea how much as we’ve never used the service.
We take things to the tip ourselves. Anything that may be a little too big, gets broken down.
Sofas have always been sold on or given away.

Our Council is brilliant. I can even get them to collect uPVC windows, 6 bags of rubble and radiators etc. All free.

They collect all electrical stuff for free as well.

The only things we pay for is chairs and sofas and wooden furniture such as a sideboard etc even beds are free to collect.

Charges for household items that can’t be recycled are listed below:

Number of items Cost
1 to 2 items £12.50
3 to 4 items £25
5 to 6 items £37.50

Just looked out of interest. Not too bad really, but as I say we drive to our tip which is around 4 miles away.

Our council has an incredibly complicated points system.

£15 for 26 – 50 unit points
£30 for 51 - 100unit points
£45 for 101-150 unit points
£60 for 151-200 unit points

As an example a toilet is 40 points, a bath 60 and sink 40 so 140 points and £45.
Single Settee 60 points.
You also need to register for a permit first.

DIY waste needs a permit and you are allowed to take 10 items a year to the tip. Husband took 6 rubble bags of tiles and didn’t realise they would count each bag separately.

It’s no wonder the town where I live has such a problem with fly tipping.

I’m shocked at tip restrictions. We can go as often as we like. Cars have no restrictions, it’s completely free too. Our tip has a good recycle % and the workers are really friendly and always help out if needed.
Vans need a permit.

Vans not allowed in ours! Nor can you park outside and walk in.

Free for us in NI in my council. Can now see why fly tipping seems to be an issue for lots of councils in England. And we can go to the tip (recycling centre) as often as we need to. Some times I’m never out of it when doing stuff around the house. I’m shocked too
