El Mercado de Coronado gratuity?
Silly question, prompted by an article on another planning site and questions from a friend who’ll soon be visiting. But is a gratuity now expected at CSRs quick service?
When we stayed last year, when it was the Pepper Market, it was a traditional Disney quick service with various stations for different food types and a drinks island in the corner with all the rapid fill and coffee machines etc on. The article my friend read suggested that now food is “bused” to you and drinks are filled for you and as such gratuity is expected. I’d imagine it would be all over the food forums if this was the case but this is the first I have heard of a change like this and Wouldn’t have thought the Disney community would stand for it. Anyone been there recently and experienced this?

I've been searching online for such an article, but no result. I'd be very surprised if tipping was now required, but there are stranger things. As I'm staying there next year, it would be great to know if it's true.

I'm in the coronado springs facebook page and if this was the case it would have been mentioned there and it hasn't, therefore I think your friend has got their wires crossed

Hi as it’s an article in another planning site I won’t post it directly here, I’ll drop you a direct message so you can see what I’m referring to.
It’s likely totally wrong but did make me question it since it was the new name for the pepper market mentioned.

We stayed in August and it was exactly as you described it before. Individual counters to order food and tills to pay plus a refill station. Definitely no need to tip.

We’re on there too and would have thought it would come up often if it were the case.

It still has the serving and refill stations as before, think they are getting their wires crossed.

Gratuity isn’t enforced anywhere though even in table service unless you are a larger party or using tiw. So Disney wouldn’t have changed any policy...just people are probably deciding to leave tips as they feel they are receiving a service
