MVMCP - getting parked at MK, best strategy?!
So we are going for Christmas and have tickets for the last MVMCP on 22nd Dec, expecting it to be very busy! We have a dinner reservation at O'hana for 4:00pm with the party starting at 6.00.
My question is, how bad do the roads get with people queuing to get into MK at that time of day? I've heard they can get gridlocked! We are at AK during the day, then having a look around Disney Springs in the afternoon, and then off to MK for the evening & party but I'm now concerned that the queues/roads just to get parked in MK are going to be a nightmare. I was thinking maybe of parking at the Poly, as we have the O'Hana reservation, but was also wondering if it wouldn't be too bad at MK as the park closes at 6 for the party so fewer people would head in there in the afternoon (except party guests of course!) Could maybe park at Epcot and monorail over, but then it would be a bit of an epic leaving MK at midnight, monorailing back to Epcot for the car. What would be your strategy? Any experience of the evening parking queues this close to Christmas? Thanks! |

It will be like any other busy day. People will still get into the parking lot at the TTC with no problems. The new road layout helps. Its when you leave the roads will busy but still perfectly manageable.
The only times it can get really grid locked if its 4th July, or New Years eve at park closing or if there is an accident on World Drive. Otherwise you will be fine.

Make sure you give yourself at least 1.5 hours to get to MK entrance, took us ages to get there a couple of weeks ago for a party due to congestion at the parking entrance, then big Q's at the security check and a ferry boat (strategically) braking down.

Yes we're at the Poly anyway for O'Hana at 4:00 so I think we'll have to plan for trying to get in and parked for 3:00 latest, that gives us time to have our meal and monorail across. I just can't decide whether to try to park at MK or head off to park at the Poly since we have the dinner reservation, I think that might be quieter...?! I really don't want to miss the start of the party!

Surely if you are dining at the Poly you would only be able to park for 3 hours max?
Wouldn’t you run the risk of being towed if you overstayed? I’d valet park at the Poly, which would let you stay longer, and use the monorail to MK

I’m pretty sure it would be enforced at that time of the year, but you could chance it.
However, if you valet parked you could stay there until the end of the party. We are coming in on Disney bus from our resort, but if we were driving that’s what we’d do.
