Never done Mk on the first day
we usually do Ak as it feels like a smaller park and then head out early afternoon when everyone is tired. With the fact its now open later in the evenings and there is avatar land there is more to do but I still think its a great 1st day option.
Last time we did HS first but only because we actually went to a park on arrival day something we've never managed before

We usually do Epcot first day, but this year we are breakfasting at BOG for early entry as we will, without doubt, with a four year old grandson, be up at stupid o’clock.

If our first full day is a Sunday we don’t do MK. It’s too busy! We’ve always done HS on Sundays

Our first ever trip this summer and we are doing HS, this is mainly due to people recommending not to do MK due to tiredness. I'm fine with this and so are the kids because they want to do the pool and wander around the hotel, we are only doing 1night onsite the rest are off-site in a basic hotel.

I'll usually pop into MK on the first night just to get it out of the way and get in the spirit, then do another park on my first full day.

We did AK first last time as we went with the busy day guide - I was a little miffed not doing MK on the first day but tbf it made me realise that even if I dont see the castle on the first day, it's still just as awesome when I do get there Just being on Disney property seeing all the purple signs & a cast member saying "welcome home" kicks off my holiday for me!
