Kansai airport to Kyoto

We will be arriving at Kansai airport around 5pm. What is the best way to get to our hotel in Kyoto?

Depends where your hotel is. Train is the obvious answer, the JR limited express goes from the airport to Kyoto station. Being a JR train it is also JR pass friendly.

Thank you, we are staying at the
Royal Park hotel in Kyoto ..
We have 7 day JR passes but don’t want to activate them straight away as we’re travelling to Hiroshima then Tokyo ..

Sanjo station would be tricky by train. Bus will be a better option.

okkbus.co.jp/timetable have a KIX line that goes from Kansai to Sanjo KY7 stop. Close to 2 hours but no transfers. Its a short walk over the bridge after that.
