Universal's Epic Universe - New Theme Park?

Just seen that Universal will be making an 'EPIC' announcement on August 1st.

I so hope this is going to be a new theme park and will put to rest the idea of a Nintendo-themed park (was never keen on this idea). Am very excited to see what August 1st brings though!

Was it ever expected to be a whole park dedicated to Nintendo?

Universal have announced that a Super Nintendo Land (not a whole park) will be coming to one of it's Orlando parks. Originally it was thought that this new land would be coming to Universal Studios but now most people are expecting it to be one of the lands in the new park.

BTW, the shadowy circle in the background looks similar to that shown in an image regarding the possible name of Universal's new park:

Hmm...

I’d take a new Universal Park over Galaxy’s edge anyday. I’m really not a Star Wars fan in the slightest, saying that, I’m not a Harry Potter fan either but love it at Universal. I’m probably in a minority but I don’t get all the hype for GE when there is only one ride opening at the moment.

Its not really a comment on popularity, just the ongoing marketing competition between Disney and Universal.

The announcements are timed specifically to take some of limelight away from WDW.

After the initial announcement I wouldn't be surprised if there was regular new released in the run up to the end of the month.

I would've expected something in mid August rather than the beginning of August, but you're right. It also takes some discussion away from the D23 Expo rumour-mill, which admittedly seems fairly quiet at the moment.

I really hope Universal have managed to come to some agreement with Warner Bros and can use the name "Fantastic Worlds". It's better than the alternative, "Epic Universe" (IMO). Although the use of the word "epic" in the teaser would suggest they are going with the latter.
