The Cake Cutting
This was the first time I had seen my cake. I was a little apprehensive as I had read some mixed reviews about It's Tasty Too and I was wary about ordering over the internet without actually meeting the person as they had to rely on my description and try to create my vision.
I had sent numerous pictures as I wanted certain aspects from different cakes but none of them were exactly the same as I wanted. I had also gone back and forth from a square cake to a topsy turvy cake as I had 3 toppers to choose from and wasn't sure if any of them would fit/be too heavy/look right. In the end I took a chance and went with the topsy turvy as that's the design I had initially seen and fell in love with - its so much fun! I had ordered with shimmery gold quilted design for the top and bottom tears with mickey heads where the lines crossed and the middle tier pink with shimmery gold scrollwork. I was amazed with the cake it was bigger than I thought it would be and looked exactly as I had envisaged. I loved it Me and my new hubby cut the cake (although I was reluctant as it was a work of art!). and fed each other a slice. We had the following flavours Bottom tier: vanilla with strawberry and fresh cream filling. Middle tier; marble cake with white chocolate filling. Top tier: vanilla with Bavarian filling Anniversary cake (which we took on the wedding day): vanilla cake with cookies and cream filling. Here is where my poor memory kicks in as I was sure I only tried the marble and white chocolate, but looking at our pics we cut the bottom tier and that was vanilla with strawberry filling. Either way the cake was delicious, I was a little disappointed I didn't get a large slice of each tier lol The anniversary cake with us served as my mid morning snack for the few days following the wedding - the cookies and cream filling was divine! Harry having a cheeky slice. Carrie had done an amazing job of setting everything out, including the two cake toppers that were not used (I had given Carrie the three I had Traditions, vinylmation and the one on the cake and asked her to decide which would look best. She had also scattered my gold and pink mickey crystals as I had asked. Best man was then put on the spot as I had told him there was going to be enough time for speeches, we'll turns out there was... oops. He did a brief but great speech and we had a toast of pink Moet or pink lemonade for the little ones. Apparently we had cookies too... but think the kids devoured them before we had a chance. We were then whisked off to do some pictures around Cypress Grove as I had requested. Firstly with the Dibb share Happily Ever After Parasol. Then the Keep Calm sign Carrie had kindly lent us. and finally The Happily Ever After Mickey sign we made. We had also brought with us to the US small balloon letters (fitting we thought as we have a balloon business) saying THANKS which we were going to get a pic with me, Seb and the kids holding for our thank you cards. Unfortunately we forgot them on the day. Instead we are going to take them to Paris next week (Present from our MOH) and hopefully do it in front of the Eiffel Tower. Whilst we were doing this our guests were signing the tags attached to the blessing stones we had given them to hold during the ceremony. They then placed them into a shadow box frame for us to keep as a guestbook alternative. Unfortunatlely I don't think Randy got any pics of the box filled, but I think its on the wedding video if anyone was ever considering this as an option. Here it is before on the right. And the blessing stones in packets given to guests alongside the Mickey head fans.
