Charging to MagicBand and paying with egiftcard?
Ok, so we have extra USD $ in our Paypal account, and I was looking for a way to use this in Disney for food etc as we don't have the dining plan!
I found out how to buy Disney egiftcards with Target - can I use this to pay off the balance we've charged on our magicbands? How does this work at the front desk, if I only have the emailed card? Or can you only do this with the physical plastic gift cards? Can I use the egiftcard directly in the shops for souvenirs, or only online? If a plastic one is easier, we could buy 1 small one in a shop, and transfer the rest of our egiftcard balance to that one, right? How often should we stop by the front desk to pay off the balance - daily, or only upon checkout (we're doing split stays, no more than 7 nights max)? And I still need to register a credit card to my room to be able to do magicband charging, right? Can I do this through online checkin too? Or only by visiting the front desk? Sorry for all the questions - just not quite sure how this works! |

I thought if you charged goods/services using your magic band a settlement was taken every coupld of days so unless you are quick (assuming I am right) then you may have a problem.
I'm sure someone more knowledgable than me will come along and give you a proper answer!

We used our ecards quite easily. They scan the barcode on the evoucher. You can also take a screenshot of the card in case WiFi is limited.

Yes, we could go down to the front desk every other day and pay off the balance, that wouldn't be a problem!
Follow up question: can this tie into mobile ordering in any way? Charge a mobile order to our room/magicband and then pay it off that way? |

Not sure with mobile ordering - we weren’t able to do it via magic band last year. It wanted payment by card (or dining plan). We ended up going to the counter.
