Everything

The hotel next door was raided by armed gun men. Totally put us off ever returning.
Was very basic back then in 93 so it may have improved.

Been to both and been to Mexico several times in the last few years. something to note if you are beach people the Yucatan peninsula is having some big issues with sargassum the last few years and it could possibly have a big imapct on the beaches.

I forgot you had been, I may have asked you for recommendations 😀 We are pleased with it, we love the eco aspect of the resort as well as the usual wide choice of restaurants and bars etc Looking forward to it even though it’s only for a week

Another vote here for Riviera Maya, especially Playacar near Playa Del Carmen.

Where do i even start! We booked a five * resort. First room didn’t have wifi, second room didn’t have working aircon, neither end if the world but annoying. 3rd day ds came down with an ear infection that was caused by dirty water according to the dr on site. On closet inspection we noticed that by late afternoon the pool had a very strong urine smell to it, so we could no longer use the pool, the beach was full of seaweed., the people working were miserable and would only serve if they saw a dollar in the customers hand, to top it off they cut off the water for 48 hrs and only supplied 1 bottle of water each. When we returned home we found out after we left the hotel was closed due to legionaries disease. Oh and on our way to an excursion we saw someone been shot.

We had our first visit to Mexico last September. Really enjoyed it. The food, staff and weather was amazing. Definitely want to go back sometime.

Mexico every time, there is loads to do.
Suitable hotels could be:

The Grand Fiesta Americana Coral - great beach, right by Isla Mujures Pier and all the sights of Cancun, family-friendly, great restaurants. Can get All-Inclusive (ask for U-Club).

Paradisus Cancun - some of the best all-inclusive food around.Gets consistently good reviews. Huge resort, similar style to Hard Rock.

Been DR twice, both really nice. Once with kids second time adults o nly
Both in bravado Punta cana

Staff, food and hotel always been really nice
Beach can have seaweed but didn't bother our stay

We're currently looking to book and deciding between Punta Cana and Mexico cancun

Seems Mexico is roughly £1000 more on average

Been to Mexico 5 times. Always staying in Playacar near Play del Carman. Stayed in Rui Yucatan 3 times, a fab hotel on the beach and other Riu's within walking distances that can be used.
Off to Dominican in 5 weeks time. Never been before so quite nervous and its got a lot to match up with Mexico
