We are at Emerald Island at the moment, just catching up with the developments as Emerald Island lost TV & internet yesterday afternoon for some reason. It's back on this morning. We were meant to going to the Gulf on Tuesday but the latest forecast is making that look unlikely now. Checking with our Emerald Island villa owner if we can stay on - we know there was no booking for another few weeks when we left for Florida last weekend.
Stocked up water yesterday Target on the 192 had plenty then Got some tinned food in too. Trying to carry on enjoying our holiday so off to Aquatica this morning

Publix at Berry town center had quite a bit of water this morning.

Limiting it to 2x24 per person. And will likely run out soon at the rate people were buying it. But there now if anyone needs some.

We were there during Irma. We had water but fortunately didn’t need it. We were also lucky and didn’t lose power, but there were a lot of areas that were without power for days.

Many shops and restaurants were closed for 3-4 days, so we stocked up on food. We filled a cooler with ice, just in case the power went out to keep chilled food cold.

There was also a curfew on one day to keep the roads clear for repair/ emergency vehicles.

To be honest, I slept through when it actually hit - I’ve seen worse weather here! However, we did see property damage and a few trees down.

Whilst this may sound bad, it was inconvenient at the most. Just be as prepared as you can and be sensible.

There is a good weather site windy.com where you can track the path of the hurricane

Well we decided not to fly this morning

We have 3 year old twins and I just didn’t want to take them into a potentially dangerous or at best unpleasant situation. The risk of being holed up in the villa for a couple of days in howling wind and torrential rain with potentially power outages and two manic 3 year olds who just want to get to the parks was more than I could face .

Also from what I have seen it seems to be getting increasingly difficult to get supplies in. Many people are reporting stores are out of water etc so we just decided that for us it wasn’t worth the risk. If we had been staying on-site I would probably had gone and trusted that Disney would look after us but I felt we would be a bit isolated and vulnerable in a privately rented villa with no one on site to help us through it all

We’ve rebooked flights for next Wednesday and are now staying for 11 nights rather than the 14 we had originally planned, so coming home 2 days later than we would have been. Hoping by the time we get there the worst of the storm will have passed. Our villa owner has been really accommodating and has allowed us to change our dates at no additional cost.

We booked our car through Andy at DFCH and he has been fantastic and also sorted out the changes for us at no cost (and in fact we’re getting a refund as the rental period is shorter).

Just spent the morning re-arranging all our fast passes and dining reservations. Everything rebooked except for Seven Dwarfs Minetrain and also lunch at BOG. Hoping we get lucky and pick them up while we’re there.

Thank you to everyone for all the tips. Hope everyone stays safe and that it ends up being not as bad as anticipated

At least you can get excited over the weekend without the stress of being there.
We were in a villa during Irma and lost power for 2 days. We had enough supplies of water and salads etc in though.
