Dorian by passing Florida in Favour of Carolina's

Bad news for Carolina's but good for Florida :

Hurricane Dorian is no longer predicted to make landfall in Florida, but is instead, heading further north to Georgia and the Carolinas.

Nobody is doing that. But this forum is for discussion of holidays in Florida so it's only natural that Florida is the focus.

It was hardly scaremongering. People were going to either lose their holidays or be unable to get home. Not to mention the actual real danger to life that a hurricane brings.

It wasn't scaremongering, it was real.

Where’s this scaremongering comment come from? There was the largest hurricane since Andrew (killed dozens, wiped out large areas, I was there just after), about to slam into the East Coast around Vero. It’s only later yesterday the models showed it would likely hover above the Bahamas for 30 hours (imagine a hurricane verging on Cat 5 hovering above you for a day and a half? horrific). The comments on here were very useful and helpful, hardly scaremongering. Orlando airport was until yesterday afternoon closed from 2am Monday! I don’t think anyone was suggesting it would still be CAT 4 at Orlando, CAT 1 was likely.
Businesses have shut down in Orlando. I got an email from my title company to say they didn’t know when they would be back open!
Having been in the Bahamas just 2 weeks ago, I really feel for those people and hope it’s not as bad as some are predicting.
