The OP has to make sure they just claim for the flight on the 5th, no need to mention the one on the 3rd as that has no bearing in this case.
Yes this is what I was thinking, they have said it was due to hurricane and then I pointed out that every other fight from MCO was going on time and there's was the only one cancelled. I asked them several times why it was cancelled and they just kept saying I don't know.

One Question,
Am I able to claim from my insurance company for the flight on 3rd September together with expenses then claim from Virgin under EU rights for the flight on 5th.

we were supposed to fly at 17.00. got put on the 19.10 flight instead which was then delayed due to a "Technical Fault" and didn't leave til just gone 20.30.

For anyone that was on that flight the "Technical fault" feels very iffy we were told that the aviation authority had to board the plane to sign the fault off, that the fault would take 30 mins to correct and that we would definitely be flying that night (this was all before said engineer had looked at the fault) then at Manchester we were told due to fault authority had to board plane before we could be let off. We were actually boarded by armed police who went to the back of the plane and returned escorting a male passenger. I asked the steward what he'd done and he said they didn't know and had just been told he was wanted. Sooo if anyone knows what was going on I'd love to know.

You need to contact your insurance provider. Or CAA as the have a site to tell your rights. it worth trying contacting the airline direct
