Sequoia Lodge refurb

Hi all. I saw this on fb today and thought I’d share here in case you’re like me, who is booked for this summer and had no idea that this was happening! Here’s what the page says:

🌲🌳 Renovation work to the outside of Sequoia Lodge 🌳🌲

From February 17 2020, the facade of Disney’s Sequoia Lodge will start to be renovated in phases, building by building. The hotel will remain fully open and continue to offer all the usual services & amenities to its visitors. The work will take place during the day only, and the teams will do everything to reduce potential impacts.

Work is scheduled to end Summer 2022.

I saw this on Twitter. It's a bit naughty that it hasn't been advertised anywhere ahead of this. We have two trips booked to stay in Sequoia Lodge so I'm hoping they're true to their word that it disruption will be kept to a minimum.

Also seems very odd that it could possibly take 2 and 1/2 years to complete - the hotel is big but not THAT big.. they've refurbished whole hotels in less time!

Exactly! We loved this hotel last time so there was no hesitations to book again. I just would’ve liked some warning. But like you say as long as they’re true to word of daytime work then we’ll all be out having way too much fun! 😉

As they are starting with the lodge buildings I expect they have planned it so that the building being worked on will be closed to guests and then they will move on to the next one and so on.

It’s only when they move to the main building that it could start to impact guests - I expect this is some time away just now so that is why there has been nothing official in brochures etc.

If i see anything going on when I get there in 9 days time i'll report back... I had no idea about any of this and it's scheduled to start on the day we arrive... !

We are booked to go in April for DD’s 18th and never knew anything about this, hoping it won’t be that bad.

Just got back and although they have just started (allegedly) I didn't notice any disruption. Obviously the main work has clearly to be started.
On a positive note, the Marvel renovations to New York seem to cracking on...

They are refurbing some of the lodges at the moment - the lodge next to us was all cordoned off when we were there this week but we didn't experience any disruption as a result.
