Hey all, sorry to bring this back out of the ether or sound a bit stupid here. But i'm a little confused by this. If we typically aim to travel in September. I was thinking an October use year would be best. Am I wrong in thinking this?

Yes that is wrong, and would be the worst use year. Reason being if you want to cancel and bank the points you’d have to do it 3 months before whereas if your use year is more than 4 months off travel you can cancel and bank 30 days out. Ideal for you would be August. However, as I mentioned before, unless you see your travel dates set in stone, I wouldn’t worry too much as DVC can well change your travel patterns. More important to me when buying that first contract was whether it would meet my first trip requirements with points ‘coming in’ at the right time for the first booking as well as price and overall deal.

Awesome, thanks for that. I really appreciate your help as you've provided us with stacks of info and are twice as patient haha.

I seem to recall that Apr/Jun were the "recommended" UY for Sept, unfortunately they don't do a May, you basically want your normal holiday period to be within 8 months of your UY starting, as YT explained this allows any cancellation to be Banked if can't be used.
