Same feeling here. I think this is the hardest part. Being dealt a potentially dodgy hand, knowing they would have done better if they sat the exams is just crushing. My DD has been in a terrible state all Summer. I am actually worried about her mental health. Its not because she is worried about her place at UNI as she has an unconditional but its the possibility of being given a grade she would never have got and being stuck with it for life.
She has worked extremely hard for almost two years to achieve her predicted grades of A*s as I am sure many others have and they have had the rug pulled from under them. Doesn't help when people say 'Aren't you lucky not having to sit your exams'. Im sure for many that opportunity to shine is what they needed. At least if she sat them and for some reason she did badly, she could accept that. Lets see what Thursday brings. I hope its better than we are all anticipating. Not long to go now everyone. Wishing you all the best for your DDs and DSs on Thursday.

After what has happened in Scotland, I’m even more worried for them.

Looks like Scotland are now using the CAG grades calculated by teachers

Why not just do this from the beginning. Lets hope Boris will do the same if needed and reinstate the grades they deserve.

You would hope so as Scottish applicants now have an advantage over English applicants for the same university spaces.
Eg The conditional offer is AAB DD’s CAG result was AAA and downgraded by Ofqual to ABB Scottish Person’s CAG result was AAB and downgraded by SQA to ABB but is now put back to AAB. Scottish person gets the university place. This is by no means a dig at a Scottish students at all but the system. It’s a shambles. Surely the UK government need to tell Ofqual the same and fund it.

Totally agree. It is a shambles and could now be argued discriminatory to the English students who don't get the same consideration. I am very pleased for the Scottish students though. Oh Lordy ! just want to get Thursday over and done with.

Because the teachers grades generally overpredict the final grade.
So these teachers grades needed to be normalised similar to how the exam results are normalised each year. However, now Scotland has decided to leave the grades as per the teachers' grades which results in a noticeable difference in the grades between this year and previous years (and, I assume, future years) and also potentially means there will be a noticeable difference between England and Scotland grading levels.
