Would you move it?

So I have our first trip using our DVC points booked for 15 April until 6 May.

I am getting concerned that we still might not be able to fly.

I have checked the BA prices for July/August and the flights are still relatively similar in terms of price. Our BA booking allows us to move it so I don't think we would lose much here.

I also think the DVC points will be similar - we might just have to go a day less or borrow some more etc.

The only dynamic which we need to consider is whether my OH falls pregnant. If that were now (although unlikely as we have been trying for two years) we wouldnt make it. So we may have to wait until January or something to make the booking change.

Appreciate one needs a crystal ball to answer this but always I think worthwhile getting the thoughts of others.

I am actually surprised the flight costs are the same as this is school hols. He isn't yet at school and so I thought the price difference would be extortionate!

Honestly , yes.
We had May booked and I have moved flights to the very end of August , paid £60 pp extra but that was with PE coming back instead of the original economy.
I’m not even confident of the later dates but I’m thinking it’s far more likely than May.
(Murphy’s law of course means changing dates means the odds of getting pregnant increase ... wishing you all the luck in the world with that )
As you aren’t tied to school holidays yet , remember July is really busy as the US schools are on vacation too so late August isn’t as busy as most are back by then.
These flights started as September 2020, then moved to May 22 and now to August 21 , I’m determined to use them eventually !

Ive got Easter and summer booked. If I can’t go Easter it gets shunted to December. If I can’t go summer it gets shunted to Easter 2022.

Yes I would move it, we had hoped to go to US (west coast) in April but we cancelled it because it doesn’t seem realistic. We have got Japan booked for April now, but not sure they will be letting us in by then either.

I wouldn’t let a possible pregnancy come into the decision making on timing of holiday. If it happens, then maybe you won’t want to make either date, but you would have something better to look forward to.

Ordinarily we wouldnt worry about it but with our DVC points we wouldnt want to just lose them. Its easier to just wait a couple of months before we book as we would not be able to go if she is due at that time!

I would change it, if you were to get pregnant and be unable to fly your travel insurance should cover it!

This is coming from someone who had a 6 year age gap between children, if we hadn’t of booked Florida trips it would have been a hard 6 years! 😉

I have this ^^^

I also have DVC booked and won’t move the points until it’s more obvious we can’t go. With the hopes that come March/April we will be in a different position due to vaccines and the end of the winter, I’m still holding out hope that we can possibly go 🤞🏼🤞🏼

As it sounds like you have little one so I would be a little wary about July / August as it can be very hot and sticky that time of year and might be a little uncomfortable for them.
