I failed 3 times before I passed.

On one I knew I’d failed within 5 minutes of setting off. I said to the examiner ‘I’ve failed, haven’t I?’ And he said ‘if I tell you it will mean that I have to stop the test and abandon the vehicle and walk back’ so I had to continue driving for the whole rest of the test knowing that I’d failed which wasn’t the most pleasant thing I’ve endured!

The traffic light was very early in his test but he carried on as best he could. He's cheered up now and looking forward to his retest.

My eldest on passed first time. I didn't think he was ready and I still think he's a terrible driver. Funnily enough he felt the same when his daughter passed first time.

It's a different beast, the driving test, now, isn't it!

I'm glad your son didn't let it get to him for long. I bet he'll pass this next time.

It’s just a little bash to the ego and more money to spend but it’s not the end of the world and in turn he’s learnt a mistake that he won’t make again good luck for his retest!

My both sons took three goes to pass and daughter four times, so I had to go through it with them a total of ten times. With all of them nerves played a big part as they were up to standard lesson wise. Younger son still hates driving though and uses public transport in preference to having a car. Older DS and DD enjoy driving and a few years experience now.

Aww thats such a shame for him, I failed on my first attempt but passed on my second and my driving instructor always said to me that the better drivers always pass on their second attempt. Feel free to share that with him if you wish.

I failed first time and I was so stressed over it.

I had 3 minors and one serious fault for not using the slip road correctly, the examiner at the end said I was a really good driver and it was a shame he couldn’t pass me.

I was so stressed waiting for my next test as I felt like it would never happen and I was so annoyed with myself.

My second test I passed but the examiner at the end said “you’ve just scraped a pass, don’t make me regret this and please take out pass plus lessons.”

Honestly that upset me more than failing first time, my instructor didn’t agree with his comment and neither do I! I was just nervous! And I didn’t take pass plus!

I don’t particularly enjoy driving though, since passing I’ve felt my confidence go down because of people pulling out on me and causing a near crash, this has happened 4 times now in 6 months.

I have to take my mum to the hospital tomorrow and I’m dreading the huge drive!

Thanks for your reply. He's working hard to make sure he passes next time. I hope your long drive works out well without to much stress.
