Respect to Captain Wild - this is a massive achievement by any standard!

Congratulations to her - I hope she won’t be the last to get through P Company

An achievement for anybody, but always harder to be a trailblazer.

Well done to her.

Females have passed the Royal Marine course in the past but this is a big first in Army circles. I agree - being the first is always hardest.

well done to her !

the fact she is the first proves it hasn't been 'made easier' to tick a few boxes

fwiw the ladies always do well on the SAS shows on C4 , Victoria Pendleton being a notable one

I agree. From my own experiences in training, I think that manifests in many areas ... I believe they have an inner mental strength that sometimes exceeds many males in the same environment.

To date, no women have passed the full 32 weeks Royal Marine Commando course. There is one woman in training although I believe she encountered an injury early on and may still be in the rehab unit.
Fabulous news about Captain Wilde! Huge respect to her and like you say a really important role model to women and girls 😃👍

Before enlisting in the Army in 1983 I looked at serving in the RAF and Navy. All the trades I would loved to have done were not open to women at that time. In the Army I was quite often the only female amongst the men and I never wanted them to treat me any differently.

Well done Captain Wild, I salute you.

I stand corrected - yes a leg injury last year. I thought a female bandy had completed the course in the past.

My Nanas were both my female role models, Paternal grandmother was a nurse before and during World War 2 and my Maternal grandmother was a house keeper for a private estate and worked in a Royal Ordinance Factory and Land Army Girl during World War 2 as well as running g their own homes and aiding their families these women never stood for any chauvinistic behaviour, never let anyone tell them they couldn’t do anything they set their minds to , made and recycled all their own clothing and grew their own crops to eat. They also inspired me to take an interest in sciences and the world around me to appreciate books as well as taught me compassion for others and how to care for animals and friends. I learned how to cook from both of them since my Mum had no clue how to do any of this. Both of my Nanas were independent and had a great grasp on finances and laws and bylaws.
Each one is missed daily yet I try to remember their life lessons. I was lucky I knew them both well despite everything which is more than some kids do these days. We didn’t need to idolise a celebrity or so called influencer ( I detest that word these days) because we had inspirational women in our family. Modern culture has changed people’s perspective so much over the last 20 years and hardly any families talk to each other any more because they are all glued to their devices or as DH calls them “ the black mirrors”.
