Le Cellier - Poutine and Mac and cheese

We love Mac and cheese, just not that horrible Kraft version we’ve found in the US; what type is at Le Cellier, please?

Also, can someone describe poutine, please? I have no idea what cheese curds look/taste like!

Thanks!

I’d describe it a little like small balls of mozzarella cheese - but I’m sure someone else would have a better description!

I’ve not had their mac and cheese but I’ve had their poutine and didn’t enjoy it. The cheese curds are like little balls of soft cheese. Like the poster above I’d say mozzarella and they’re not strongly flavoured. The best poutine at Disney is at the Daily Poutine in Disney Springs in my opinion.

To be fair that's probably the best description, something between them and halloumi

Poutine is to ma an acquired taste and similar to things like marmite in the UK and peanut butter to those from other countries. My kids grew up in a border state to Canada. My younger two loved poutine as kids, as adults not so much.

Some of the poutines at the Daily Poutine are far from real Canadian Poutine-french fries, gravy and cheese curds. I'd define a cheese curd as a soft piece of mild cheese (they can be found in different flavors, although predominately made by cheddar manufacturers. BUt milder because I don't think they are aged )

So I liked the poutine from the Refreshment Port counter but not the one in Le Cellier itself weirdly.

Cheese curd is what happens when you melt cheese in a pan and the water runs off it - the bit thats left is the curd so its a more concentrated stringy cheese. I agree with the description of somewhere like a halloumi. Some people love them and some people hate them. You can currently buy battered cheese curds from most retailers (brew city) which I guess would give you some idea whether you would like it.

Really Poutine is cheese and gravy on chips. If you like that then you will probably like poutine. If you don't then its unlikely you will.

Like others I was so disappointed with their Poutine, we have a Bread Meats Bread in Glasgow & theirs is/was 10x better! I'd say the ones from Daily Poutine in DS are also better

I wasn't overly impressed with Le Cellier full stop.

I don't eat much meat, so I had cheese soup to start, lobster poutine for "main" meal and creme brulee for desert. Soup was amazing but very rich, poutine was ok as was the desert.

DH had the filet mignon, but it was so much better in Tiffins the day before and for my money in a nicer environment.

Don't get me wrong Le Cellier wasn't bad, just isn't going to be one of out favourites.

Thanks all; I like cheesy chips and chips and gravy, but not all together, so will miss that!
