MSC - anyone know what our options are?
Cruise October
Balance due 22/7/20 Not keen on going but it hasn't been cancelled. What might our options be? The way I see it 1. Lose deposit (don't think insurance would cover it) 2. Transfer deposit to something else. 3. Pay in full and if cancelled get refund or claim on insurance. A gamble. Any other options?

I don't think I'd be paying the balance unless I'd be happy to go if not cancelled.
Is there another cruise you'd like to go on next year instead? That would probably be the easiest thing. |

My gut is saying this wont go ahead, where is it sailing from and to? How much deposit would you lose? Is it transferrable as other poster suggests for something next year?

We’re supposed to sail on 31st October from Miami so far they’ve changed the ship and itinerary without any form of contact with us I only know about it because of an informal Facebook group - I think it’s unlikely to sail and very unlikely I’d be able to go even if the ship does sail as I’m in the shielding group. Our balance is also due and I’m not willing to throw anymore cash at a cruise that won’t go so I’m looking at moving our deposit to next year.

Probably wont be allowed in to USA to board the ship. We are supposed to be going from Miami in nov but can move ours to the following year, and keep the perks and the price , but that's with celebrity. I imagine most companies will do the same

Thanks for your input, it's a repositioning Southampton to Hamburg. It was a stupidly cheap deal that we thought would be a good introduction to cruising to DS's GF. According to MSC we can transfer the deposit to another up to Dec 2021 via our TA as not booked directly. Problem is getting hold of TA.

So I feel like this cruise is getting more and more likely. We have a Copenhagen to UK booked in September and the more things open up the more likely I feel they are to go ahead. Most of the countries likely on your route are on the airbridge system so I think its a good idea to try and move it as otherwise it may go ahead and if you aren't comfortable sailing then that would be a problem. Pester your TA - some can be very slow but I find a couple of "hi did you get my message" gets most moving Good luck

Thanks, still getting nowhere contacting the TA. They are looking for final payment on 22nd July.

Really hope you sort it. As it is our cruise got cancelled and with the no sail currently I guess I'm glad just disappointed. Now to find something to do in Europe over the dates as I can't change my vacation time again
