Excited about Disney
|
It sounds harsh but thats how we feel, when DP first proposed
(9 years ago, and before we had kids) we did start planning a wedding in this country, but people very quickly started saying what we should and should not have, and who we should and should not invite. It just was not what we wanted. But like I said some people just can not seem to accept it and will not even talk about an event which to me is very exciting. one thing is for sure its made me realise that some family members are only happy if you make the choices they want you to make

Like you I was not in contact with my Dad, but following a terminal diagnosis we made up and Dad was going to give me away, unfortunately he died 7 weeks before my wedding so my Mum gave me away and my Uncle did the speech and dedicated it to my Dad. It was lovely and my Mum was so proud to walk with me down the Isle, as I was to have her by my side. Good luck with your choices.

Oh no I'm so sorry. Having children yourself it's hard to understand how parents can be like this This is a lovely idea and I think I will do this myself. There is nothing more in the world I would love for my wedding day than for my Dad to be there to give me away, he would of been so proud. Unfortunately he died 7 years ago so I was hoping my older brother would do it (he's 20 years older than me), but I have a gut feeling he isn't going to come so my nephew will do it. Mum won't be there either because she has Alzheimers and I don't talk about it in front of her. Although she would forget anyway I just don't feel comfortable disscussing it knowing she won't be able to come I was going to take a photo of mum and dad and place it in the front row, but I think your idea is better |
