So you could buy the annual pass now and not go till December 2021 and it will be valid for one whole year from using it on the first day, ie 16/12/21 - 15/12/22 ?

Wouldn’t everyone be buying in advance to avoid price increases

I would imagine you have to activate it by 31/12/19.

I have sat on a pass for 3 years before activating it before now.

I find Universal passes do not go up when other tickets go up (which is usually in reply to a Disney increase)

They quietly go up at random times, think the last increase was March

There used to be a time when you could buy Disney Magic Your Way tickets and then activate them many years later. It's only in the last couple of years that the MYW tickets have been restricted such that you have to start using them within a certain timeframe.

And, yes, back then it was a good idea to buy your tickets as soon as you could and use them years later so that you avoided price increases. Most people didn't - most people tended to buy their tickets once they had booked their holiday.

Still, even now, most people suggest buying the American tickets before the annual price increase (usually in February) for the reason you suggest.
