After Hours at MK on Presidents day
Hi - We are squeezing in a Florida trip for 8 nights during Feb half term in 2020. We are not planning to do Disney as this is supposed to be a cheapish week and we've done it on our previous 3 trips. That said, it feels wrong to stay in Orlando and not get one Disney hit, so I am considering one of the DAH events.
There are 2 regular DAH events scheduled that week MK (Monday) and AK (Thursday). AK has less appeal as there are a very limited number of attractions available, so MK is the front runner at the moment. However, Monday is Presidents Day which I know is usually extremely busy (CL 8+) - my questions are; - How do you think Presidents Day crowds will impact After Hours? Will there still be significant queues when the event starts at 9 - MK closing is currenlty planned 8pm, with DAH starting at 9pm. Does anyone think normal hours will be extended to 9pm? Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any thoughts ... |

Without insider knowledge it is hard to say whether the actual event will be busier because of Presidents Day, it would depend on whether Disney decide to sell more tickets or not. I certainly think it would be very busy right up until the point the event starts though. I have been to three DAH events so far, on regular days, and the DAH event does not deter regular day visitors in the way a MNSSHP might do and they have all been a bit busy at first.
I enjoyed both AK and MK a great deal in fact our favourite was probably the first AK we did as we had not been to Pandora before. I do take your point about there being less open though, however there is less to do at AK anyway in terms of rides. Our favourites are open so we were happy, but I will admit i didn’t enjoy AK DAH as much the second time. |

We did MK after hours on Thursday before President Day and Animal Kingdom after hours on the Tuesday.
The MK one was busier then the after hour events building up to it but from memory it was also Valentine's day so the park was very busy when we rocked up. The longest wait was for Peter Pan at 15 mins once the event started. As for Animal Kingdom we spent the afternoon there and then did the event so we could do Pandora with little to no wait. All the family prefered the AK event as it was so much more chilled. We did EE 5 times back to back which was brilliant and Dinosaur 4 times. I also found it easier to get the food options at AK.
