Airbus seat map.
Has anyone flown in a airbus A330-200. I’ve booked a virgin flight back from Vegas I presumed it would have been my usual jumbo as per my normal virgin Orlando flight but just gone to book seats and it a two four two format for seats. Any good seats or ones to avoid. My normal choice is upstairs which I can’t pick otherwise I tend to go for row37 down stairs as it allows me to recline. Has one picked row 32 and does it allow you to recline. There is 8 lads going so no young kids etc. Been on seat guru and it doesn’t say too much about that row. I would have gone at the back but it does state last row does not recline and the other can be bumped into.
Another question is how do you upgrade to economy delight if that’s a option? It won’t allow me to pick them on the app only economy seat. |

The 747s are all being removed from service in most major airlines over the next few years.
Anything in the second half of the A330 can get very noisy during the flight as you are behind the wings, but this doesnt bother everyone. Avoid anything near the toilets, they are yellow for a reason. On long haul they get smelly and busy. We sat the equivalent to row 32/33 on American Airlines and they were good and reclined fully, the toilet entry was from the rear so never bothered us. We flew Aerlingus recently and luckily sat else where as the entry to the toilets was from the side and a few middle seat rows were adjacent to the doors and the worst seats I could ever think of getting. Of course you can still choose to sit upstairs, but it gets very windy and cold.

All seats recline so that shouldn't effect your seat choice.

Thanks guys. To be fair I tend not to recline mine out of respect of those behind me (I know everyone has different thoughts on this) but if I can get the last row I always recline fully back. It was the toilets I was worried about. Looking on the seat map it shows toilets behind row 32. I didn’t realise the 747 were going love those planes it surprised me that this was the type of aircraft as I’m shocked not as many seats compared to the 747 I’m just hoping it’s not a small cramped plane like when you nip to Spain etc from UK.

As much as we all love 747s, they're expensive to maintain and run now due to the fact it has 4 engines and they're quite old! There should be some 747s around until late 2020/early 2021 I believe. It won't be cramped at all, in fact the seats might be slightly wider, Airbuses tend to have slightly wider seats than Boeings. The A330s are the same type of planes that Thomas Cook used for their long haul. With regards to the seat capacity, I believe the last few of Virgin's A350 order to arrive will be fitted in a similar config to the 747s, eg lots of economy.

I prefer the A330 over the 747. The seat width is basically the same as the 747 and leg space isnt much different. Like any aircraft it depends on the airline and how many rows they plane to cram in.
So short haul airlines like Easyjet will squash more rows in meaning less leg room, but long haul tend to give you a little more. The main problem for the 747 is the running cost per passenger. A330's do tend to have narrow walk ways though.

Once you have been in an A350 chances are you will prefer them over the 747 for cabin comfort, for start they are a lot quieter. I never have seen the fascination that some people have over the old 747 and specially in economy, its well past its sell by date now. And that's for all airlines not just Virgin.

You mention the A350. I’m sure the plane I’m due on is stayed A330-200 I presume these are two different planes.

not a fan of VA A330- but if I was choosing economy seats I would choose the rows from 47 back as the aisles are much wider
