Virgin Fly Drive without the car.

In the past it was quite common for travellers to book flights with Virgin Holidays so as to be able to book date further out than 330 days. They would book the flight with the basic car and basic insurance that is included, but on arrival at the airport would not pick up the car as they had booked it cheaper elsewhere. Does anybody still do this?.

OP. I know people were doing this up until the Virus hit so I suppose it will also be a thing going forward.

I know people say they have got fly drives cheaper than a DIY Virgin flight and a stand alone car hire but in all my times of flying to Florida multiple times per year since 1994 I have never found such a deal.

However I do accept it's handy to pay deposit only hence the popularity of fly drives.

Also having looked at some of VH's current prices they are so insanely expensive I find it hard to believe you won't be able to find a much better deal elsewhere

I’m not sure about virgin but I’ve got a Tui fly drive booked for next summer. When we priced it up, it was going to be cheaper to book a separate car than pay for all the extras but we had extra credit with Tui due to a cancelled holiday the previous year so we used the extra credit and stuck with Tui.

T B H you don’t really need to book a fly drive I been quite a few times but never hired a car ( this is just me) but have paid low deposit most times. We got to know the staff at Thomas cook virgin hayes and others I just asked can I pay a low deposit and most times they said yes even virgin but with them I got talking to the young lady and she said I could pay in 2 parts the deposit I payed 50 pound pp then 75 3 weeks latter she said as long as it was paid with in a certain amought of time I just paid the rest a bit here and there. Our trip to vegas this year if it go a head I just booked with a call and paid a bit here and there online with no problem.

The prices for a fly drive with Virgin are insane. I had a look yesterday and it was nearly £6000 for what I want. With BA it will be half that hopefully at 11 months out

What I will say with VA is their car hire prices for certain dates in 2022 are very keen. Always worth a look.
