Sod’s law

The past couple of weeks I’ve been trying to change my lifestyle. I’ve been a couch potato for a couple of years and have piled the weight on.
I have a physical job and because of that, I seem to think I can slob out at weekends, eating what I want, when I want, with no structured exercise plan.
I was going to make use of my gym membership by swimming when the second lockdown happened, so I decided to make use of the fabulous walking and cycle paths locally.
Well yesterday while out on a walk I got a severe pain in my heel, it got so bad I couldn’t go into work last night.
I’ve managed to see a doctor this morning (telephone appointment) and she says it’s probably Plantar Fasciitis. It means I’ve got to rest up and as I’m on my feet all the time at work, I’ve got to stay off until it feels better, which could be weeks.
It doesn’t feel as bad this morning but still very sore. I’ve not been off work sick for years, I’m going to have to lock the biscuits away!

I had this once and was told to roll the bottom of my foot over an ice cold can of pop a couple of times a day, it worked wonders. Hope you feel better soon.

My Son had a foot issue and like Dr JJ was told to roll his foot over a hard ball for 30 mins at a time.

I was diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis and the GP told me to rest it.

I ignored him and walked it off over the next 2 weeks until it improved.

However I'm nuts so don't follow my medical advice.

I suffer from time to time. Nurofen plus are good for bringing down inflammation and good footwear.

Hope you are on the mend soon.

I too have this, it comes and goes in stages, it’s very sore.

I wear Sketcher or Fitflop shoes which help too, I also bought a boot off Amazon which is designed to help, you wear it at night, I found this really helped and still does when I get flare ups, especially as I work in retail so on feet all day.

The boot can be annoying some nights and sometimes in middle of night I have to take it off but with perseverance it does help

Sound stupid but start doing some squats!
Anything that will build up your thigh and buttock muscles. Then when you walk you can plant your feet down gracefully and silently (like a ballerina) rather than stomping them down and jarring your foot (not saying you do stomp, but you get the picture).
This was the advice given to my daughter and it did help

Last time I had Plantar Facsiitis I looked online for some exercises
They really helped and I also found a company called Feetlife which sold things that could help.
