Naples or Marco Island
We have 17 nights to sort out in South Florida next August - flying in and out of Miami. This is an unplanned Florida holiday as we managed to get a really good price for a BA flydrive. There is myslef, DH and DD (12).
I have already booked a Dibb villa in Cape Coral for the last 7 nights and will use this as a base for beach visits, shopping and general sightseeing in the Fort Myers area. Originally we had planned 5 nights in the Keys but I can't find anything within budget (or even under £1000) so have booked the Quality Inn in Florida City for our first 5 nights. This again will give us a base to visit the Keys, Miami and Everglades. This can be cancelled free of charge. This year we stayed at the Margaritaville Resort in Hollywood Beach for a couple of nights and would have liked to stay again but again, the prices are really high at the moment. If prices do drop I might change the Quality Inn to this and have another look at the Keys. This leaves our middle 5 nights. At the moment I have seen a couple of options. The first is the Marco Island Beach Resort which is a very good price on Virgin at the moment - almost half that of anywhere else. The hotel is on the beach and we would get a suite. We would need to pay for this in full when booking. Our second option is the Hyatt House in Naples. This is a new hotel near 5th Avenue and is number 1 on TripAdvisor. Again we woud get a suite with full kitchen and breakfast is included. It's not on the beach but overlooks the water. It is slightly more expensive than the other one but still within budget and can be cancelled free of charge. I am not really familiar with either area so looking for some advice. The Hyatt seems to be within walking distance of the shops/restaurants on 5th Avenue (is this the area we should be looking for) but a bit further from the beach. The Marco Island resort is on the beach but not sure if walkable to may facilities.

You can hire a bike and cycle pretty much anywhere on Marco if that appeals - we love it there - already booked twice fr next year. Also love Naples but I always feel a bit more chilled when we are on Marco. The beaches at both Marco and Naples have fantastic sunsets You can walk to a few shops and restaurants from the Marco Island Beach resort.

Anymore recommendations for Naples or Marco Island?
I have also looked at the Bellasera Resort in Naples and can get this within budget. So far, two places in Naples and one in Marco Island. Still can't decide which location would be best
