sanford is about 30min to 40mins away from mco. its a much smaller airport so you get through customs and immigration alot quicker the mco. so from landing to getting to hoet/villa will be around the same time.
on return there is not as much choice at sanford for eating but what is there is nice and there is a smoking area at sanford but none at mco once you go through security. i do like sanford but i would go with what suits you best for flight times ect

We've only ever flew to Sanford (this is due to booking packages with Thomson) - was surprised to see how small the airport was - but there is a few shops, duty free & a food court to keep you going
Also - try and not book transfers with Thompson - this normally add around 1/2 hours on to you getting to your hotel (we definitely won't do this again - Uber works out cheaper and a lot more efficient) When we go next year, we're flying to MCO, so unsure of what to expect when we land! Sophie x |

Been through Sanford 5 times ( great airport and royal palm lounge is brilliant). Quicker through immigration.. mco is good also. Closer to I drive and some villas.. only thing about Sanford is the 30-40 drive..

I personally prefer MCO, but I don't think either airport is better than the other. Both have their ups and their downs. I think if Thomson work best for you price wise, then go with them. When it comes down to it... Both airports are near Disney and the great all mighty mouse!

We always stay in Davenport and on 05 we flew into Sanford, we landed about 17:35 local time and had delays going through customs and baggage claim and we eventually got to our villa after getting lost in the dark about midnight! This might be the exception but it put us off.
Since then we have flown into Orlando and from getting off the plane, through customs, baggage collection and picking the car (this takes the longest as the kids always argue about which colour! ) to the villa in davenport has taken the most 1.5 hours. We prefer MCO purely for the fact it's nearer the villa

we stay near davenport/champions gate, and SFB adds roughly half an hour onto the journey.
but you make that up by getting through the airport loads faster... we usually get through SFB and are in the car in around 30 mins whereas mco usually takes at least twice that. hth |
