1st cruise coming up !

omg ! Mandymouse - u are so lucky to have been on some great trips.! In 51 days or so it will be our 5th hol in florida ! (yipee), but it will be our first ever cruise .. 3 day (wonder) ive read so many forums/trip reports that I wish we were on their for at least a month !

Have you got any 1st cruise vital tips on what definitely NOT to bother with ? We are myself , hubby and 2 girls ages 13 and 8?/ got vibes that Nassau is really not worth getting off for ?
Is the Pirates Party definitely on every 3 day trip ?
Is the pull-down bed safe ! ? got visions of my 8 yr old rolling off in the night ( even though theres a bit of a guard rail thingy there! )
Any info greatly recieved...

OMG Mandy

Thankyou for making me ever more excited

I cannot wait to get on the Wonder now just over a week to go!

I think I might have to sample one of those Baharma Mama thingies

Sound like you had the most wonderful time thanks for sharing your experience!

It is really hard to advise someone who is going on their first Cruise, as you must do everything, but my main tips are
- get to the DCL terminal around 10ish, and you'll be one of the first onboard (so you can start your adventure as soon as possible)
- pack your swimming stuff in your carry ons, so that after lunch you can enjoy the pools before it gets busy
- video embarking the ship, I just love reliving that moment when they announce you onboard
- don't miss the restaurants (on your first trip)
- don't miss the shows
- I can't advise for Nassau, I know we're not keen on it, but you may like to wander the shops or visit Atlantis
- take tons of photos

Yes, there is always a Pirate Party on a 3 night night, dress up if you want to (not everyone does, but it's great to be dressed up when you have photos with Pirate Mickey, Minnie & Stitch)

My youngest was 8 on our first Cruise and she was fine with the bed rail - if you don't feel happy with it, then put your 13 year old up there, as there is plenty of room. The bottom of the pull down bed is your sofa in the day, and the pull down bit comes out of the ceiling and is just as big as the sofa

If you need anymore help, then just ask, or start a new thread as everyone on here will have some great advice for you

Mandy
