Disney shareholders question

Hey

A few years back I bought Disney shares when they were still sending out the certificates.

Received a letter today from the company that oversees Disney shares saying that as they haven't heard from me in three years my shares could be sold on !

I have received cheques before but never actually cashed them - the shares are for my two girls and they tend to frame them and put them on their walls (the amounts are really nominal). Didn't realise that by not cashing them in I was effectively saying I don't want them ( we do want them !)

Anyone had any experience of this ?

Yes, I've done this just recently. You need to go to disneyshareholder and click on Log In. This will open another page for Broadridge who manage the Disney share. Click on' Create Profile' then scroll across until you see the 'non-US citizen option'. Click on that and it will take you to a page to request a pin number. The account number is shown on the paperwork that you get with your dividend cheque. Once you receive the pin (through the post), you can then create and account. My understanding is that by logging in to that annually, you keep your account active and the shares can't be sold on

Yeah, me. I hadn't bothered to cash them either, as I only own one share and the cheques are usually for a few cents. The company sent me a cheque for the total amount of uncashed cheques last year, (along with a threat to sell my lonely share!), it was about $6 and my bank accepted it. However, I tried to put the last one in my bank recently and they said I had to go in and complete a form for it, so I haven't bothered so far.

But maybe I need to do this because I don't want Disney selling my share!

That's brilliant thanks, I didn't think I could do it because it was asking for a social security number but I never even looked for the non us citizen option !

Don't worry as I did the same. I emailed Broadridge to ask what I needed to do and they pointed me in the right direction

The pin came really quickly. For phone number I think i put our home number without the 0 of the area code as the address part confirms it's the uk so they'll need that international dialing code.
