Mobile Recommend me a day trip please... beach, maybe?

Hi,
I am looking to have a day out (no parks) but without staying over anywhere so we do t want to be driving for too long (no more than an hour or two).
I really fancy a beach with lots of things to see etc near the beach, like little shops, ice cream places etc
We would only spend a couple of hours on the beach as we don't sitting in the sun.
So we would like a lovely beach with lovely walks, cute little shops and ice cream places that's not too far to travel too. Any recommendations?
Thanks

Just to add would also love the beach to be near a marina if there is one as we love walking round and looking at the boats x

I've heard a few people recommend the Little Toot dolphin spotting in Clearwater. It lasts 1-1.5 hours and it's difficult to throw a stone without hitting a good beach in that part of the world.

We're thinking of doing it this time but it's doubtful we can fit it into our schedule.

Is there nice little shops etc close to the beach to walk round?
Thanks

Yes - google them, they have a website. There is shade and they also sell refreshments on board.

edit: littletoot.us/faq.html

I also burn very easily .

Clearwater beach is great if you want to do a daytrip. Not a cutesy beach with lil' ice-cream shops but plenty to do. There's Pier 60, a few really nice restaurants by the beach, a marina, boat tours like Little Toot and even an aquarium. The beach is really clean, lovely water and good toilet/cleaning facilities. Do stay for sunset if you can - it's spectacular.

I loved little toot. It was a great trip, seeing dolphins in the wild (where they should be). It also felt more ecologically acceptable on little Toot as opposed to the speed boat dolphin watching tour that tore up the bay!

We had planned to use the booking section on their website a few days ahead or give them a ring just to be sure they aren't expecting to cancel due to Weather or are already full.
