ESTA - Upload Passport

I'm in the process of completing my ESTA's - is uploading passport something new? I haven't done this before .. Thanks

You don't have to, just enter the details manually.

It is fairly new (the last couple of years) - you can enter the details manually and, honestly, it usually works better that way.

thanks, one more question, i'm doing a group application... to add a person to the application do I go with option 1 add new application or option 2 add an unpaid application ? thanks

Add unpaid application - unless you already have a paid application that you are trying to add to a group. If it's a brand new group/brand new ESTA then unpaid

I uploaded our passports. By doing so I avoided the issue of forgetting to add middle names (I hadn't realised they were required until I saw that their software had read them in).

It'll be add a new application for the extra people in the group. It took me a little while to figure that out too!
