Anyone know? - Availability
Hi all
We're looking to travel back to Disney this year but we're a bit perplexed when it comes to the availability side of things. As some of you will know, certain resorts are not easy to get at 11 months, let alone 7 months. A 2 bed at Copper Creek has really good availability for the end of August into the middle of September but anything beyond that is booked. Just wondering what the reasons for this may be? I assumed that this would be a busier time as September is meant to be low season so figured the availability that month would be far better. Hope that all makes sense. We're just trying to figure out when to go, assuming that perhaps end of Aug - early Sept would possibly be quieter hence why there is availability?

Millions of points have been taken by cabins, that are often availible just a few weeks out. These points have now been declared. Basically DVD worked out how to cash in on huge numbers of points with accommodations the average punter will never book. So that’s millions of points in the system where people don’t want those accommodations, so they are fighting for the normal rooms. Of course if those cabins dont book, they go into breakage, and I think as breakage refund is already at maximum, DVD takes the cash booking monies. You’ll need to walk studios to book them a peak times on 11 months, and even 1 beds- unheard of. It is a big problem a this property.
It may settle down a bit when the novelty of it being the newest resort wears off but don’t count on it. Also late next year we are seeing it generally busier. I beleive some DVC owners are booking as they want to avoid Star Wars, and some are booking December as they want to go. So you have people who would maybe have gone December bringing it forward and summer travellers holding off to December. Summer is looking very open indeed on availibility, more than usual I’d say.

Also don’t forget that busy park times don’t normally correlate with the busiest times for DVC. DVC rooms are very popular in September and early December particularly as it low points. Then September/October are generally very busy these days with food and wine. There’s no such thing as a quiet time at Disney these days!
