We're not. Had planned to, however as we only have a 14 day pass (staying 16 days) and Star Wars is opening on our last day, we're delaying starting our 14 day disney ticket and going to Universal Studios on say 1 instead

Not us, our "first day tradition" is and always has been Epcot, our favourite park. I do like that folk on here all have their own family traditions, though!

We tend to visit a water park on the first day which is far more relaxing. We're usually far to tired and jet lagged to be walking around in the heat.

Like others, Epcot is our first Disney park of the holiday.
It was EMH on our first morning of our first family trip and it works well for our first morning this holiday too, so I guess that counts as a tradition. MK seems to be our last evening park for MNSSHP.

i was going to choose Hs due to EMH but decided to push it back to try and get a Slinky dog fast pass. I still wanted to take advantage of an early start so doing pre park opening BOG breakfast then SWMT. We missed this last time as no fast passes and long queues. I don't have any burning desire for MK to be on the first day though- it just fitted well this way. I'd happily start at any park except maybe a water park- need to build a bit of tan first to stop total body sunburn.

Never, to busy for first day and puts kids right out of sorts, so we leave it until day 3.

Always hit Universal on our first full park day. Of course, we stay onsite so it's a no brainer.
I'm not even bothering going to MK at all after our day there last year. Much prefer the first Disney park day to be Epcot, especially as food and wine is usually on when we go. I'd be partial to Animal Kingdom too, but Epcot just has a nice vibe to it and helps ease us into the 4 day stretch of disney parks during our first week. If it was my first day I'd pick epcot even more as you are usually a bit tired, and I couldn't face MK whilst tired...

when I plan our itinerary we just go with the park that's recommended as quietest on our first day.
Our first trip we went to Animal Kingdom and last time it was Magic Kingdom and this year it will be Hollywood Studios. |
