Please share your favourite places from your West Coast trips

Hi, we are hoping to go to California next October and I realise we are never going to see half of what we would like in 18 days. I would love to hear what your favourite places were. Is there somewhere you feel you couldn't miss on a future trip? I am travelling with a 16 year old and a 7 year old, both boys. The younger boy loves everything, he's easily pleased and the older boy loves music, he has a broad taste, photography and sport but he really just loves travelling in America. He loved HHN in Orlando. Any thoughts are welcome, at this stage of my planning it's like market research 😊

Loved Joshua Tree, so much quieter than some of the other National Parks. Redondo Beach, hired bikes and cycled to Santa Monica pier. Thought Solvang was amazing and wished we had booked a couple of nights there rather than just a stop off. To be honest all the places we visited were fab, can’t wait to see some more in September.

It’s Yosemite for me. I’d never even considered it before I read somebody’s trip report on here, and it soon became a ‘Must Do’ for us. We never regretted it, and although we thought the whole trip was great, the time we spent in Yosemite was our favourite part.

We loved San Diego and went to watch a baseball game which was a great day out. Will try and find pictures.

Yosemite, Santa Barbara, Carmel, Palm Springs, Grand Canyon, the drive down Highway 1 and the drive on Tioga Pass, Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood Bowl in LA, Balboa Park in San Diego. My husband enjoyed an evening at Dodger Stadium watching the baseball.

* I haven’t travelled with kids.

We found there was way too much to do inside 20 days in California and surrounds so ended up splitting into 2 - we did southern Californa but unfortunately haven't as yet got chance to do Northern California
So our highlights were Grand Canyon, Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, Universal and the Hollywood sign
I made a photobook/ storybook which can be seen in the link below
Hope it gives you some inspiration
