Mears and Uber in Orlando

I have been reading with interest about a strategic tie up between these two people moving companies in Orlando.

What do dibbers know about this and will this mean that there is no difference between a mears taxi or uber taxi in Orlando now?

What’s this?

We always use Mears as we had a bad experience with an uber driver in California and decided to stick with registered ‘safe’ mears drivers.

Do we need to reconsider ?

Sadly I can't open the Orlando Sentinel but I found something from last year on WFTV.

Under the arrangement, users on the Uber app will get a luxury option, UberBlack, that summons either a Mears vehicle or an Uber vehicle for the same price.

The service will use mostly sedans and SUVs from a fleet of about 200 luxury vehicles belonging to Mears.

Sounds interesting. I wonder if what I have found is what is now about to be launched?

There are various websites reporting it from last year, for example:

inboundreport/2018/11...on-in-orlando/

The info is pretty much the same as Mr Tom's post above. I believe this actually started at the end of last year and so has been running for around 4 or 5 months now. ETA: Seems like it might have been delayed.

See my post above... these would appear to be the live dates

Not operational quite yet according to Mears Drivers.
