Insurance - Pre-existing
Please can somebody help me. I am feeling so sick with worry.
I have just booked a holiday to Florida flying out in five weeks. I have existing annual travel insurance with all pre-existing conditions mentioned on it for all travel to Europe and just thought it would be a simple case of upgrading to worldwide. Even enquired as to price. Not even thinking I booked the holiday and forgot that my son has an upcoming ENT appointment for an undiagnosed condition. When I tried to upgrade insurance they would not cover my son for his undiagnosed condition, but also not cover my son for his pre existing condition which is asthma. )He does not suffer that bad with asthma and only uses his purple inhaler for those who know the condition. He has not had to use his blue inhaler for over a year now). However, I feel as though I would not like to travel without this cover. Does anybody know any companies that would cover asthma for somebody who has an undiagnosed condition? If that makes sense. He is not likely to have his ENT appointment before travel. I understand that they cannot cover undiagnosed problems, but his asthma was declared when I took out the policy. I don't know what to do, or where to turn. Does anybody have any advice? |

I have a rare condition that if you google sounds way more doom and gloom than it is. Even some of the pre-exising insurance companies wouldn't insure me. The ones that do are astronomical. £800! Found one that ive used many times for about 1/8 of that.
insurancewith/ They screen for medical conditions and also ask a lot about upcoming procedures tests booked. Hopefully they'll sort you out. |

Unfortunately you are going to struggle to get any cover for an undiagnosed condition.
Many insurance companies will cover asthma. The problem with an ENT undiagnosed condition is that it covers so much that any exclusions will cover almost anything you try to claim for medically. Insurance companies will use the slightest thing not to pay a medical bill. From headaches to tripping and falling. They will say that the condition caused unsteadiness. Undiagnosed conditions are a nightmare, i know as Im researching myself at present for family, and basically ruled out going until diagnosis. The important bit, is why has he been referred for further tests. You dont need to answer that here of course, but every symptom listed onn the referral will be excluded. Could you pay for a private consultation to speed things up?

You have 3 options.
1) Go and hope for the best. (avoid any medical treatment for him while away) 2) Dont go 3) Go but leave him at home. Tough options, but only you will know if he is well enough to be away and risk no medical cover.

Try free spirit insurance, before going through all the declaring, ask if they will cover whilst awaiting tests , if not then ask if they have a phone number of a specialist broker who may give cover , I have heard that Free Spirit insurance are very helpful .
