7 seater prices

For 2018 we originally booked a 7 seater minivan (pacifica or similar) on a flydrive deal through BA. Eventually I upgraded to a Tahoe and then again to a Suburban. We were then given a Lincoln Navigator on arrival at Tampa.

Will be booking to go again in July 2020.

Looking at prices for this year the Tahoe is a lot cheaper than a 7 seater minivan? This is the same whether looking at flydrives or booking car hire alone. I don't think the Tahoe will give us enough luggage space (5 people, cases, double push chair etc).

Can anyone explain to me in simple terms how the 7 seater minivan was fair bit cheaper than a Tahoe last year but now its the other way round? Have Tahoe pries dropped or have the minivan prices risen? Is it likely/possible that this will switch back round again by the time I book for July 2020 (around Aug/Sept)?

Sorry for the daft questions.

Not a daft question at all. Prices are set by a computer program and that has determined there is more demand at the moment for one type of vehicle hence it raises the price.
Families tend to book earlier hence their bookings push up the price of certain categories.
That can change overnight.
My view is book early and change often!

Of course that can only be done on websites that allow that to be done. Some don't so watch out for them.

Thank you. That does make sense
