Straightener/Curler Recommendations

Hi All!

DH is wanting to know what I’d like for my birthday and me repeatedly telling him that I don’t care about birthdays this year isn’t washing. I did think I’d quite like hair straighteners that curl your hair. I’ve got long, thick hair so curling it is hard work.

Does anyone have any recommendations? There are now quite a few straighteners/curlers combined on amazon now but don’t always trust reviews on Amazon. Would love recommendations from you lovely people instead.

Thank you all.

gf ordered a pair of these yesterday

amazon/KIPOZI-Nano...nguag e=en_GB

they are arriving today, so will be able to comment on them shortly, but reviews seem decent enough for the price.

prior to this, she owned GHD mk5.0, but they stopped working last week. did ok though for ~9 years old, and we're gonna post them off to a place that repairs them for £25 (we found it after ordering the new ones)

she originally ordered a set of ghd platinums for 160 quid, but they were faulty on arrival, and after looking at the repair site, it seems the new models are designed not to be repairable, so not gonna get them replaced, because, screw them!

The Mk6 Eclipse, Platinum and GHD Gold models are not currently repairable by anyone and have been designed to be a throw away item unfortunately. The latest GHD Gold irons are also non repairable, not to be confused with the fully repairable older GHD MK5 Gold range of irons!

I would recommend cloud 9's. The more recent GHD's are rubbish in comparison. Any straightener can be used to curl your hair as long as the plates aren't too wide

they just got used for the first time today, and she is very impressed with them for the money. they feel really well built and do the job as well as her trusty old GHDs. they are a little on the chunky side to hold, but thats just gonna take a bit of getting used to.

the only downside so far is that it has an led display on the outside which allows you to change setiings... but even when not in use, it still lights up and says "off" so you have to turn them off at the mains, otherwise you have a bright shining light in your otherwise dark bedroom.

but thats only a minor design issue. for £25 you could do a lot worse!
